Cultivated for centuries throughout the Apennine region, from Alto Chiascio to the Valnerina, saffron was also grown in Gualdo Tadino in the mountain meadows where wild crocus blooms can still be admired today.
We grow organic saffron entirely “by hand” and in a painstaking process: from planting the bulbs, to early morning harvesting, to the manual separation of pistils from each flower until the purest pistils are packaged.
It is packaged in a single-serving glass vial sufficient for one risotto for 4 to 5 people. If stored at room temperature, tightly closed and in a dark room, saffron will keep for years.
Sourced from our in-house certified organic supply chain
Our entire organic supply chain is based in the green hills of the Umbrian Apennines, but above all it is an exclusively in-house supply chain. It means we have full quality control of every stage of production, from sowing to harvesting, from milling to packaging.
This is an additional guarantee to the traditional values already inherent in organic farming: no chemical treatments, no food improvers or preservatives, respect for the land and for the safety and wholesomeness of the food produced.
